I've read several articles stating Zynga is being sued by a rival gaming company for patent infringement on 12 of their games. Here's just one of the articles I read:
"A gaming company called Agincourt Gaming, is accusing Zynga of infringing its patents and asking that it shut down 12 of Zynga's games on the Facebook social network, including FarmVille, Mafia Wars, and YoVille.
Agincourt Gaming claims Zynga infringed two of its patents dating back to 1996 that relate to redeeming virtual prizes in games. The patents cover processes for credit-based online gaming and a prize-redemption system based on the outcome of game play, according to Agincourt's complaint. (Zynga's RewardVille)
The infringing Zynga games that are being sued include FishVille, CafeWorld, CityVille, Vampire Wars, PetVille, YoVille, FrontierVille, Treasure Isle, Empires and Allies, Zynga Poker, FarmVille, and Mafia Wars, according to the complaint.
Zynga, which is preparing for an initial public offering, refused to comment on the action."
What are your guys' thoughts? It seems a little odd to me.
Lawsuits are very common with big companies, but it kind of worries me. Anyone else?
